Isle of Noises

Isle of Noises imagines the island long before Prospero arrives, following Sycorax, Caliban, and Ariel as an exiled Black witch, her son, and a restless spirit become entangled with powerful fey who resent and fear human presence. Sycorax survives banishment and assault to raise Caliban under the wary gaze of the island’s spirits, while Ariel sacrifices divine status to save her and then schemes to regain power by serving as a go‑between among Sycorax and rival fey courts. As Caliban comes of age, his mother tries to shape him into the weapon of her revenge against the men who weaponized her magic, even as he doubts his power, resists the destiny she lays on his blood, and grows close to Ariel and the fey who share the island’s secrets with him.
